About the Davistown Progress Association
A Progress Association is a local residents' organisation, usually run by volunteers, that advocates for the needs and interests of a community. It acts as a voice for residents of the area and works with the local Council and other relevant agencies to improve services, infrastructure, facilities, and community connections.
Davistown Progress Association supports local businesses, lobbies on behalf of the local residents, and seeks to protect and promote the unique character of Davistown – its waterfront location, the wetlands that provide a haven for endangered species, and its quiet, village-like ambience. We value our long history of active engagement in the community; the Association will reach its centenary in 2026, and our heritage hall turned 100 years old in 2022.
You might think all that sounds rather dry, but it really isn't. The more enthusiastically members engage with each other and use the Progress Hall as a hub for activities, the more fun we have, and the more any local issues come to the fore in casual conversation. The Committee (see below) keeps the Association on track, but it's the members who drive it forward.
If you're a Davistown resident (or 3 Villages – we're not that exclusive!), we'd love to welcome you as a member and hear your ideas on how our local area and community can be improved.

Julie Hale, President
Julie became the President of DPA in 2024, having previously been convenor of the Association's Household Waste & Recycling Sub-Committee. She's a dedicated waste warrior, teaches ethics at the local primary school, and runs regular community clothes swaps in local venues. Her goal is to foster a sense of community among the members, with the Progress Hall as a vibrant hub.
Doug Ogle, Treasurer
Doug has been DPA's Treasurer since 2022. He's a partially retired Physics and Chemistry teacher, who enjoys fishing and playing tennis. He believes strongly in the DPA's influence to make Davistown a great place to live, through its projects and all the activities it brings into the area.
Clare Pascoe, Secretary
Clare began her involvement with DPA as behind-the-scenes tech support for Julie Hale, and took on the role of Secretary in 2025. Her goal is to give the Association a more contemporary image, through its online presence and communications, so that all age-groups can feel that DPA has something to offer them.
Kath Davies, Hall Manager
Kath has been the DPA's Hall Manager since 2021, and a member for some years prior to that. She is a retired nurse, with 50 years experience. Her goal is to help the DPA raise sufficient funds to maintain the heritage hall as a hub of community activity.
